a bite out of me

a page from my journal...
21 Sept 2014

Today is being truly lived ~ tasted ~ because in writing this journal entry, I just recorded the date. In this way, I acknowledged the day, sat on it for a second and made it stay. And count. And be.

I'm in Manhattan visiting my dear brother again, and as ever, I am in love. I'm looking out at the view from his 43rd floor apartment and taking it all in. I have to be careful because I can stare out for hours- ~ getting lost ~ and then lose precious time I could instead use to get lost down in it

I wish I could perfectly describe why I love the City. Can anyone? Surely some writer, somewhere, has come close. Could of the writings of fellow aficionados give me my words?

Or is my specific love so authentically mine that only I can capture it? The history, the energy, the possibilities. Untamed, unharnessed. Bigger than every one of us. Creative fingerprints of individuality, achievement. An artistic melting pot of architecture and humanity ~ beauty and excellence. All of this, I feel!

Here you must acknowledge, in spite of the vast amount of people, that every single person matters.

Or you don't.

Their worth is only equal to your own. Acknowledging it in them, I acknowledge it in me. And every time, I feel an overwhelming desire to sampeah all (and in my heart I do).

Genuine namaste.
The light in me bows to the light in you.
I feel a oneness with all, or at least hoped for.

I feed off this energy. My own kind, seizing life around the clock. Allowing me to join and merge into their ever-flowing stream at any moment. Something perhaps only certain temperaments will appreciate ~ ever-flowing energy and life.

Because the City cradles the best of art and architecture, culture and cuisine ~ the possibilities are endless. And through my brother, I've been blessed to taste so many.

But the smallest and most accessible activity has also turned out to be my greatest joy ~ walking its streets ~ merging into a flow of possibility and energy, humanity and divinity.
